New Instant Mistake Feedback Mode Is Here
Puzzle Lair now offers a new way to play. If you have ever wanted to know the moment you place a wrong digit or symbol instead of waiting until you press Check, the new Instant feedback mode is for you.
Two Ways to Play
Every puzzle on Puzzle Lair now supports two feedback modes.
Check mode is our original mode and stays the default for every player. Fill in your solution at your own pace, then press the Check button when you are ready to see whether the board is correct. There is no mistake limit in this mode, so you can experiment freely and take your time working through tricky sections.
Instant mode is the new option. Turn it on and any wrong entry gets flagged the moment you place it, no Check button required. Correct entries lock in as you go, so you always know exactly where you stand. Instant mode comes with a twist though, you get three mistakes and then the puzzle ends. It is a faster, higher stakes way to play for solvers who want their skills tested in real time.
How to Switch Modes
Changing your feedback mode takes just a few seconds.
- Open your profile and go to Settings.
- Find the Puzzle feedback section.
- Choose "Check when I'm done" or "Mark mistakes as I go."
- Save your changes.
Your choice applies across puzzle types, so you only need to set it once. You can switch back and forth between Check and Instant mode any time you like, there is no commitment either way.
Which Mode Should You Choose?
If you enjoy a relaxed, no pressure solving session where you can pencil in guesses and revisit them later, Check mode is still the better fit. If you want the tension of a countdown and immediate confirmation that your last move was right, give Instant mode a try. Plenty of our players like to switch between the two depending on their mood or how much time they have.
